Synopsis

GUNKWORLD episodically satirises cult classic Japanese animation and commercials of the 1990s while weaving an underlying narrative. The film asks the question 'what if mascot characters were sentient?’  and foretells one such story where a mascot character gains awareness that he is being watched and reacts out of spite and vengeance, using his media to control people. With a meta final twist pulling in the audience as a character through real world footage, the film suggests that despite how invasive mass media is in our lives, whether or not we allow it to heavily influence us ultimately lies in our hands.
